I really like the Japanese kitchen, I’ve tried a few restaurants here in Amsterdam, including Yamazato. Now, Yamazato is one of the better restaurants here, specializing in kaiseki cuisine. The food there is really nice, and during my last I got the opportunity to talk to the chef and also managed to get myself a signed recipe book (which I’m probably never going to use). Though most of the time, when I go to one of these restaurants, I usually end up going for the sushi.
Last Wednesday however, I got the opportunity to try something different. Hakata Senpachi. This place is more like a Dutch eetcafe or snackbar really. It’s near the RAI exhibition centre and not too big. There were a lot of Japanese there and surprise, surprise, no sushi on the menu. What they did have was yakitori, so lots of small items, mainly grilled, and with different ordering numbers for the same item depending on which menu you took ;)
