Kinderdijk

Last weekend I visited kinderdijk, it’s one of the few Unesco World Heritage sites that we have here in the Netherlands (nice compact wiki entry can be found here). And also one of the more typical, touristy Dutch places – water, polders and windmills! There used to be about 19 mills there, didn’t count them all, but I don’t think they’re all still there - still, it's a very nice sight to see.

It was a typical Dutch day on the day I visited; grey skies, cold, wind, and rainy. Did I mention it was cold? The area is very quiet, still rural, and luckily there were not so many tourists this time of year, though I did spot a few French and Germans. The weather made for some very interesting photo opps, which I happily took advantage of. The resulting photos can be found here.
