Crossing the Med!

Finally. I have crossed the Med today! When I started planning my trip, I decided that I did not just wanted go fly somewhere, but rather do something to get the feeling that I was embarking on a journey. So rather then flying out of some European city, I decided upon travelling to one of the outpost of the continent, Gibraltar, and from there sail to Africa. To Tanger

Unfortunately, the boat service, though still advertised, was no longer operational. So after a quick tour of the rock, seeing the monkies and staring at the impressive siege tunnels, I made my way back to Algeciras and continue my journey from there.

Algeciras is a little fishing town, a place where people make their income from the sea, though from the looks of things not much money is being made. Algeciras is one of those places where the stores always offer a discount, a discount on their already budget products, but algeciras is also a place that offers tickets to Tangiers. Precisely what I was looking for...

In Tanger I had booked a room in the villa muniria, the plqce where William Burroughs wrote the naked lunch, I booked into room nr. 7, the room next door to where Jack Kerouac had lived in during his stay in Tangier. Ready to explore Morocco.
