In Rabat, On My Way To Marrakesh

I'm in Rabat right now, almost on my way to Marrakesh. Rabat has a rather modern feel to it, a bit French also, which is actually none surprising as it used to be to colonial capital of the country. I found it quite refreshing. People here are more modernly dressed, the women also; head scarves are few and far in between. All of which is quite a change from the cities further inland. As mentioned earlier, I arrived here yesterday from Meknes, in a train that would make the Dutch railway services proud: on scale from "warm" to "I want to stick my head outside the window" it was probably just a notch above the latter.

It was a fun journey though, as the girl sitting next to me helped me learn some Moroccan phrase. I can now utter practical phrases such as "where is.." usually followed by the name of my hotel or some street I can't seem to find and the ever useful "does anybody here speak English". Though I admit the asking the latter is rather redundant.

Tomorrow I'll be in Marrakesh, to meet my parents. So any blogging will probably be kept to a minimum or not all. If not, then you can always look at on the bright side: Marrakesh will remain this mesmerizing city shrouded in mystery that you know that you'll still want to visit one day... I know, erg flauw indeed ;)
