Mt. Sinai has become a bit of pilgrims destination, for some because of religious reasons (Mozes, burning bush, 10 commandments, you might have heard about it), for others because their guidebooks have mentioned it as the thing to do in the area. So... there we were at 2 am in the desert, in the cold, in the dark. The hike up the mountain was an interesting one... everybody was carrying candles, torches, portable lights, you name it. Creating a sea of little lights scattered all over the mountain.

Reaching the mountain summit though was really something. There were people of different faiths. There was a group led by an Orthodox priest singing prayers, then later on a group of muslims turned on their radios for the nightly prayers... well, you can imagine the scene. The sunrise itself was pretty nice too, btw. The walk back was, well, a bit of a surprise really. More in the sense of "hey, now we can actually see the path" and "holy crap, did we walk up that!?!".
