Temples, temples, temples... and Pyramids!

I hate to admit it, but to be honest, there is such a thing as temple fatigue... it's a bit like with Roman ruins to be honest. The first one you see is spectacular, the second is ok, and when you come to the third, you're like: ok, another pile of old rubble. Especially in Egypt, where you don't seem to able to walk around without bumping into one of those things ("oh hey, another temple....", "hm, that one would make for a great location to put a McDonalds in, right?"

That's not to say that Egypt doesn't have some very spectacular temple complexes ( as well as underground tombs of course).

Some of the paintings that have been preserved in the Valley of the Kings are simply amazing, so much detail. The hieroglyphics book came in pretty handy btw. Also, to see Coptic, Roman and even Napoleonic graffiti on the walls of the temples and tombs is pretty cool! See, wait long enough, and it just becomes another part of history.

Karnak is my favourite, the temple is simply amazing (also the last one visited). The whole thing did make me realize one thing though: with all time and the freedom to select my travel plans, I still have to make some decisions on what to see and what not. Unlike any normal holiday I can't cramp in every church, mosque, temple, museum and other sight imaginable... I would go crazy :)
