I was planning to do an enormous amount of diving off the coast of Phi Phi Don, and I did still see enough of the underwater world there... but, the temptation to find a little secluded beach was just too much. You see, Phi Phi Don has, unfortunately, become very busy, very crowded, and extremely touristy. It has become an Ibiza in Asia. Think groups of 20something American girls roaming the streets with, literally, buckets filled with one or the other cocktail, screaming how drunk they want to get. Is there such a thing as female construction workers in the US, I will to investigate some day. So, there I was climbing over rocks, going through the inlands of island trying to find a little beach for myself. I'm starting to think that Alex Garland must have written his novel after doing much of the same...

All that time lying around on white, white sands looking at clear blue seas also inspired me to catch up on some reading. I read some classics, such as
Neuromancer, never got round to that one. Found a copy of
A year in the merde, very funny! And came across Vonnegut's
the sirens of Titan, bit like the hitchhikers guide, but not so polished.
I'm still surprised at how relatively inexpensive this place comes; 15 to 20 euro per night will get you some extremely good accommodation, having pancakes with coconut shakes in the morning and some extremely good Thai food in the evening will cost you less than 10 euro. You could live in paradise for some 12,000 a year.
