Rats!

May you have many of them!!! Are perhaps you're actually one of them, hm? Anyway, Happy Year of the Rat! Or mouse, as Disneyworld Hong Kong has cleverly discovered... Mickey is everywhere. The start of the lunar new year was pretty fun. There was a new years parade with some questionable police planning in the crowd control department. (they blocked off the streets leading up to the parade, only realising 30 minutes before the start that people couldn't actually get to the parade because of that). Amazing fireworks! And some pretty cool dragon dances in the days after.

It's always said that Hong Kong is rather hectic. However, flying out of Delhi it just felt like the most relaxed place in the world to me. It was busy, yes, but crazily chaotic, no. It's strange, but now that I've left India, I just realize what an incredibly dirty, chaotic and slightly nerve-wrecking place it actually is! Hm, somehow, you get used to it once you're there. Will I go back to India? Definitely! Unfortunately, a cold spell prevented me from travelling North, so I still want to see Amritsar and a trip to Nepal via Djarling also sounds interesting... but that's all for some other time.

The weather has also influenced my travel plans for China (see pictures previous post). Trains are slowely returning to normal, but it will probably take another week or so. Some places are also exceptionally cold right now, Lhasa for one gets down to minus 20.

Brrr...
