That's right, two packs! You read it correctly... and what does that mean you ask? Well, is has to do with quality of air in Beijing. Walking around, and simply breathing in and breathing out is the equivalent of smoking two packs a day according to some. That is the conservative estimate. There are some reports that indicate it will do the same amount of damage -apart from the nicotine addiction- as 70 cigarettes a day! I can hardly wait. Can you imagine what it will do to the athletes in the olympics?
On a more positive note, I've found one of those Japanese snackbar-like thingies I wrote about some time ago, here in China. They have basic decorations, are cheap and have terrific food.. they seem to be quite popular with the Japanese here and have loads of Japanese writings on the wall (aka the menu). Now, of course I have now idea what the menu actually says. And I can't ask for the menu in other language either, I would get the chinese one! I can now recognize goat, but why is there no goat on the menu? :/
And, now that we're asking questions, why do all of my recent post have exclamation marks in their headers? I don't know :|
